You’d think I’d learn by now… It seems every year, I’m wistfully hopeful that when the new year starts, it will be calm and peaceful, with everything falling into place. Instead, once again, I’m at Warp 9 and what’s left of the hair is on fire. Wow! Ahhh… Situation “normal”.
So… Did you pray today? Did you pray as Jesus prayed?
Last Sunday I spoke on “The Lord’s Prayer”; not the one most of us associate with that term, but Christ’s prayer in John 17. I have been increasingly convinced and convicted of our desperate need to make prayer a significant and visible priority here at ESBC. We will be sharing our Transformational Church Assessment recommendations on Sunday, and I cannot but know that apart from maintaining the priority of prayer… all will largely be for nought. It is simply that important.
On Monday we began a new schedule with meetings at our church. Deacon and Leadership Team Meetings will now be quarterly. We have also added a Small Group Training Meeting for all leaders of small groups in our church, and those who wish to be. We are prayerfully looking to work smarter… not just more.
Speaking of “smarter”… I am also working on our next semester for the Central Region Leadership Institute. Beginning February 28th, Pastor John will be teaching “Theology 1 (Bible and God)”; and then at 10:00 I will be leading/teaching a video based course on “Interactive Teaching” where we will be utilizing Walk in the Word’s excellent, “Teaching With Style”. I am very excited about both of these courses. One deeply theological, and the other immensely practical. You’ll see more on this.
I do have an update on the TCAT Recommendation Meeting - We will have child-care that evening! Thank you Julia Hutcheson and Youth!!!
Stay warm and think warm thoughts! See you Sunday… if not before.
My all for my King,
