Membership

We encourage all followers of the Lord Jesus Christ to attach themselves to a community of believers by joining a faithful, Bible-believing church. For those who wish to become part of our church at East Shore, we have a process in place by which people can join the church and become members. For those who desire to become church members, we require that they, in good conscience, embrace our church constitution, our church covenant, and our confession of faith. Assuming these documents are affirmed, our membership process involves three basic steps:

1. Membership Class

We ask that prospective members take our short membership class which is taught by a pastor of the church. This class covers the gospel, the history and theology of our church, and the privileges and expectations of members. These classes are held at different times throughout the year, and interested individuals are encouraged to speak to a pastor about their desire to register for one of these classes.

2. Pastoral Interview

After completing the membership class, the pastors will request a membership interview. This is essentially a casual conversation with the pastors of the church and provides individuals the opportunity to share their testimonies of how they came to faith in Christ. It is also an opportunity to ask questions about the church and to better get to know the church’s leadership

3. Congregational Affirmation

The final step in the process is the church’s affirmation after the membership interview. The pastors will present the prospective member before the current members of East Shore for a congregational vote at the next members meeting.
